Nothing can be more painful than becoming pauper overnight. There is
a proverb that wearer knows where the shoe pinches. This means, the sufferer
knows best about the depth of anguish. My college teacher brother saved
Tk 80 thousand after 15 years of his service at a college. He at first
invested Tk 20 thousand in share purchase from Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE)
and gained a gross amount of Tk 48 thousand within 12 days.
Encouraged to invest more money, he pawned his wife's ornaments for Tk
35 thousand. Bhaiya then invested Tk 130,000 and gained a gross amount
of Tk 272,000. After the DSE crash in 1996 he got back Tk 61 thousand.
