These crimson-hued berries are the first of summer's sweet gems.
Strawberries, one of the early signs of summer around here, are currently sprinkled across Clark County fields.
But don't wait to enjoy these miniature treats. They'll only be ripe for the picking for the next three to four weeks.
Though the Northwest strawberry season is relatively short-lived, the charming fragrance and sugary sweet taste of the berries have captivated local taste buds for good reason.
"Local strawberries have such a sweet flavor. There's just nothing that can beat it," said Wendy Stack of Erickson Farm Market.
