Wednesday, June 18, 2003 -- Legislative changes affecting calculation
methods resulted in a 4.1 percent fall in job seekers to 186,600 in
May, according to Employment Service data. On Monday the Central Bureau
of Statistics announced that unemployment remained unchanged in April
at 10.8% or 281,000.
Job seekers are classified as unemployed people who arrive at one
of the Employment Service's offices in search of work. In contrast,
unemployed are defined by the International Labor Organization as
