This is MORNING EDITION from NPR News. I'm Bob Edwards.

Pearl Jam was one of the biggest-selling rock bands of the last decade. The band's success comes from its powerful melodic rock and its charismatic lead singer, Eddie Vedder. But in 1994, Pearl Jam tried to fight the music establishment by taking on Ticketmaster in an effort to make its concerts more affordable. Pearl Jam lost that battle but kept going and is now on a major US tour. NPR's Elizabeth Blair has this profile.
