SA: Researchers hope antihistamines will prevent asthma

ADELAIDE, June 18 AAP - Asthma could be prevented in up to 50 per
cent of children
through early intervention with antihistamines, researchers believe.
A worldwide study of 500 children is hoping to prove that prescribing
antihistamines
to infants with eczema and a susceptibility to dust and pollen allergies
can prevent later
development of asthma.
Asthma currently affects about one in four children.
"We're potentially talking about intervention that will prevent
50 per cent of those
