Call it the Rodney Dangerfield of modern technology.

Despite our reliance on this everyday power source, the battery gets no respect.

Even people who specialize in batteries knock them.

"The battery's been on the back burner for 200 years," complained Isidor Buchmann, a well-known battery expert and president of Cadex Inc., a British Columbia-based battery testing company.
