NSW: All eyes on stamp duty in tomorrow's NSW Budget

SYDNEY, June 23 AAP - Revenue flooding in from stamp duty on home purchases is shaping up as the key issue in tomorrow's NSW Budget.

Treasurer Michael Egan has ruled out any cut to the rate of stamp duty paid on home purchases, despite calls from Opposition leader John Brogden for relief in the face of soaring property prices which have pushed up the amount of stamp duty paid by homebuyers.

Mr Egan today accused Mr Brogden of hypocrisy, saying the coalition went to the March 22 state election admitting it could not afford to cut stamp duty.
