A Singapore actress told a court Tuesday she's having trouble finding
work and can't afford medical treatment after taking diet pills that
she says nearly caused her to die of liver failure.
Andrea De Cruz, 29, broke down in tears as she told the High Court
how her mouth was filling with blood in early June in reaction to
her liver transplant a year ago.
Doctors told her this month she should be hospitalized immediately,
but she said she couldn't afford to because her health insurance
coverage ran out after her surgery.
"I never imagined in my life I would have to pay so much," De Cruz
said, her voice choked with emotion.
