INTEGRATION with ASEAN will enable Vietnam to compete more effectively
with China, according to a report on competitiveness from international
consulting firm McKinsey.
The report was ordered by the ASEAN group to help member countries
realise their advantages and the benefits of implementing the ASEAN Free
Trade Area agreement (AFTA).
"With deeper economic integration in ASEAN, Vietnam would be part of
one large market in the fast-track sectors, which would enable it to compete
more effectively with China for future investment," the report read.
"Vietnam has several unique strengths that should position it well
within an integrated ASEAN," it said. ...
