Once maligned Nibhat may yet come up smelling of roses If the Vayupak Fund
eventually lays golden eggs for Thai investors, then Nibhat Bhukkanasut
will certainly get a pat on the back for helping revive investment the
Thai (Rak Thai) way.
Nibhat, now an advisor to Finance Minister Suchart Jaovisidha, is the
key architect of the controversial fund. Named after a mythical bird which
eats wind and lays golden eggs, the fund is designed not only to boost
investment but also to transform the government's fiscal management and
privatisation.
Over the past three years, Nibhat, a long-standing Finance Ministry
