Eating a diet high in fat, especially saturated fat, could double
a woman's risk of developing breast cancer, regardless of her weight
and total calorie intake, new research suggests.
The theory that high intakes of saturated fat could increase breast
cancer risk has been around since the 1970s, but most of the advanced
studies so far have found no clear evidence of a link.
Dr. Elio Riboli, chief of the nutrition and cancer unit at the U.N.'
s International Agency for Research on Cancer, said the research published
this week in The Lancet medical journal used a much better method
