Dateline: WASHINGTON Argentine President Nestor Kirchner came to the White House looking for U.S. help getting a line of credit from the International Monetary Fund.

After a half-hour meeting Wednesday with President George W. Bush, Kirchner was optimistic. "It totally fulfilled expectations," he said. "The relations are truly perfect; it was a really good meeting."

"We've been extended a strong hand," Kirchner said. "We look upon this very well because it's fundamental, where Argentina is now, to have the possibility of this support, for which we are very grateful."
