IT seems a bit of an overkill but the International Badminton Federation (IBF) believes that making the World Championships an annual affair will bring the meet on par with the Olympics.

"The World Championships,' said vice-president Datuk Punch Gunalan, "is the IBF's most important meet and it should be treated as such.'
The IBF council decided that from 2005, the World Championships would be held every year except during Olympic years.
