Dateline: SANTORINI, Greece A crew member was killed and 19 others were hospitalized Friday when a fire extinguisher exploded on a cruise ship anchored at this Greek holiday island, authorities said.

None of the 1,063 tourists and other passengers on a day trip from the island of Crete were on board the 116-meter (380-foot) Atlantis when the incident occurred, the merchant marine ministry said.

The 44-year-old Greek crewman died as a result of carbon dioxide gas inhalation, the ministry said, while 19 others were taken to a hospital for observation.
