Thursday, August 7, 2003 -- The 334 Palestinian security prisoners, released at four West Bank checkpoints and one in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, signed a form promising to refrain from participating in terrorist activities against Israel before they were set free.

Israel described the release as part of the confidence-building measures toward the Palestinians. Palestinian Authority officials, on the other hand, described the release as inadequate, calling the steps Israeli propaganda.
