TODAY IS THE INTERNATIONAL DAY of the World's Indigenous People. The World Council of Indigenous Peoples defines them as "population groups who from ancient times have inhabited the lands where they live, who are aware of having a character of their own, with social traditions as a fundamental criterion for determining to whom its provisions should apply".
