Domestic violence changed the life of Lee Stigger forever. Caught in a relationship with Michael Stigger that had been rocky for a long time and often escalated into beatings, Stigger filed for divorce.

But on Dec. 15, 2002, a month and a half after filing for divorce and 12 days after obtaining a protective order, Michael broke into Stigger' s Southside home and physically abused her.

She was left with a compressed skull fracture and was in a coma for three weeks. She recently finished physical therapy to help her learn how to walk and talk again. Stigger is also relearning how to read and write.
