Dateline: BANGUI, Central African Republic Central African Republic announced an arrest warrant Tuesday for ousted President Ange-Felix Patasse, accusing him of embezzlement and murder.

The charges allege Patasse was responsible for killings committed by his Congolese militia allies here, as well as for alleged embezzlement of public funds, Attorney-General Firmin Feindiro said on national radio.

Patasse ran Central African Republic from 1993 to March 2003. Although democratically elected, he became increasingly unpopular as opposition members accused him of corruption and favoritism.
