Haig Tashjian, Successful Businessman and Godfather of St. Thomas Armenian
Church, Dead at 87
It was a proud day for Haig Tashjian during the weekend of April 3-4 in
1965 when Archbishop Sion Manoogian consecrated St. Manoogian consecrated
St. Thomas Armenian Church in Tenafly, NJ. At the same time, he was humbled
by the honor of being the Godfather of the church. And what set Haig
Tashjian, who passed away on February 6 at the age of 87, apart from his
peers was his humility coupled with a very generous and giving heart. He
also strove to be successful; to be and have the best this life could
offer. Why? Was it just for himself? The answer has to be no.
