Getting into the Name Game: Could Asian domain names fuel the next Internet
gold rush?

As further evidence of the Internet's ability to cross both physical and
cultural boundaries, last month Verisign Global Registry Services began
accepting Chinese, Korean and Japanese language suffixes for domain names.

While in the past Web addresses were limited to 37 characters -- the 26
letters of the English language, 10 numerals and a hyphen -- there are now
40,282 characters that can stand alone or be combined. Gregory P. Ray, CEO
of the Shanghai, China-based Market IQ Limited (MIQ) believes the
development presents a "fantastic" opportunity for Asians and Asian
