Briefs: Home Invasions Strike Cambodian Americans

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Police started an investigation March 26 into whether a
robbery of a Cambodian American gathering in Providence is related to last
week's home invasion in Cranston.

Cambodian immigrants were robbed at gunpoint March 24 during a get-together
at an apartment, the police said. Detectives are looking into whether the
burglary was related to the Cranston invasion where a Cambodian American
family was bound and robbed and their house set on fire. In that incident,
five suspects, ages 14 to 18, were charged with assault with attempt to
murder, robbery, conspiracy, arson and weapons offenses.
