"Pinwheels for Prevention", the first step toward recognizing the month of
April as National Child Abuse Months kicked off Saturday, March 23, when
Prevent Child Abuse Georgia (PCA Georgia) lined a 3.2 mile race/walk course
with more than 13,000 pinwheels.

Each pinwheel represented a reported case of child abuse or neglect in five
metro-Atlanta counties in the year 2000; and the display representing
Fulton, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb and Gwinnett counties is the first of dozens
of pinwheels events scheduled during April throughout Georgia.

The statewide public awareness event was held in conjunction with Kappa
Delta Sorority's "No Excuse for Child Abuse" Blue ...
