Former President Of Wiley College Passes
On Friday, July 20, the Wiley College Board of Trustees learned of the
death of Dr. Thomas W. Cole, Sr., former president of Wiley College, Dr.
Cole served as tenth president of the historic institution from 1948-1958.
Dr. Joseph T. Johnson, chair emeritus, said, "Dr. Cole was an unusually
talented, charismatic, extremely bright, and fine man. He was concerned
about academic excellence and did everything within his power to promote
it. He was the first graduate of Wiley to become president of Wiley
College, and the institution grew tremendously under his administration."
