Community celebrates grand opening of Grove Hall mall
When Reggie Nunnally's family moved to Grove Hall in 1959, it was a
bustling business district with offices and retail stores.
When he worked as executive director of the Neighborhood Development
Corporation of Grove Hall in the late '80s, the neighborhood had seen
decades of decline.
But last week, Nunnally smiled brightly as he surveyed what he calls the
crown jewel of Grove Hall -- the new Grove Hall Mecca mall.
On a strip that just two years ago held outdated store fronts and vacant
lots now stands a row of new shops facing Blue Hill Avenue-clothing and
video cassettes on display behind plate glass ...
