A Jamaican American has been appointed a divisional chief in the Broward
Sheriff's Office and becomes the first black person ???? hold a divisional
command ???? on the BSO.
Andrew Smalling, who has served 10 years at the BSO in Fort Lauderdale, now
commands the 61 officers in the Lauderdale Lakes division of the sheriff's
office, one of ???? divisions in the BSO. He began his new assignment in
early January.
Smalling was born in Kingston and left Jamaica at age to 8 to live in the
United States.
Before joining the Broward Sheriff's Office in 1991, he served as an
intelligence officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1998, he received a
