Prince Buster receives Jamaican national honor
Jamaican entertainer Mohammed Yusuf Ali, known as Prince Buster, received
Jamaica's national honor the Order of Distinction on Nov. 28 at a ceremony
at the Jamaican Consulate in Miami.
In accepting the honor for his contribution to the development of music in
Jamaica, Ali called for the revitalization of the Orange Street area in
Kingston as one of the historical points of the music industry.
He described this area as the "cornerstone of some of the island's famous
musicians and entertainers." This area, he continued, was also significant
to the birth and development of Jamaican popular music.
