NOT JUST A GOOD BEER: National history too

Carib Lager Beer made its appearance in Trinidad and Tobago on May 16,
1950. But, to learn the circumstances and drive which made this local
milestone possible we must go back further in time.

It started, actually, with the British colonial rulers, who were the first
to brew beer in Trinidad and Tobago.

The first commercial brewery, the Trinidad Brewing Company, was founded
just after the First World War, although legislation concerning the
regulation of brewing had been introduced as early as 1899.
