Gray wolf to be taken off Endangered Species List

The wolf is seen by many Native people as a spiritual brother, but opinions
about wolves are as divided in Indian Country as they are among
non-Indians. In Minnesota, the gray wolf has recovered so well that it may
soon be taken off the Endangered Species List and will be managed by local
authorities.

Many feel that the wolf needs the same protection under state and tribal
laws as it has had under the Endangered Species List. But opinions tend to
