Filipinos celebrate Holy Week with passion

PHILIPPINES - Holy Week in the Philippines is a unique, passionate
celebration, so different from almost any place in the world.
It is often observed with a fervor that mixes serious reverence leaning
toward traditional Catholic practices and folk-beliefs bordering on the
mystical. It is also a time for somber, self-imposed retreats; for
leisurely out-of-town drives; planned family vacations; or cherished visits
to the individual's home province.
Palm Sunday signals the beginning of Holy Week. Since this week
