Mailed-in green card renewal no longer accepted by the INS
The New York office of the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service
(INS) will no longer accept mail-in applications for green card renewal.
Under a new procedure, immigrants who live in the INS' New York District
(the 14 southernmost counties in New York State) should call toll free
number (800) 375-5283 to schedule an appointment.
Applicants will be given a date and time to report to an INS Application
Support Center nearest their zip code. The designated center will process
the applications for the expiring green cards.
These centers will begin processing applications on June 20, by appointment
