WASHINGTON -- Starting Aug. 15, 2002, Filipino green card holders have 360
reasons to return to the United States within 180 days. Otherwise, they
could be stopped at a port of entry and ordered to return to the
Philippines on the next flight.

A green card holder may be considered no longer a permanent resident of the
U.S. if he/she has been continuously absent from the U.S. for more than 180
days, or if the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) officer at the
port of entry could detect a pattern of staying in the Philippines longer
than in the U.S.
