Secret service embarrassed by intruder in Blair House

An embarrassed United States Secret Service last week admitted that an
intruder had entered Blair House - the White House guest residence - during
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's stay here.

However, the Secret Service asserted that the prime minister was never in
danger at the time the intruder, Dipal Pandya, 27, of Mattawan, New Jersey,
was discovered and arrested at the historic home on Pennsylvania Avenue,
across from the White House, where official guests invited by the president
are lodged.
