Two neighbors get together to write book on South Indian cooking

A friendship, which began between neighbors in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has
led to a book on South Indian cooking, recently released in Barnes and
Noble and Borders bookstores around the country.

It is an unlikely partnership between Indian American Alamelu Vairavan, a
healthcare professional who works in geriatric care, and Patricia
Marquardt, professor of classical language at Marquette University.

The friendship between the two began in 1974 when Vairavan moved into a
house next to Marquardt, and was helped along by the kitchen. "There were
