The event was the opening session and the gala banquet of the National
Federation of Indian American Associations' US-India Trade and Technology
Conference, which was attended by nearly 500 Indian Americans from across
the country.

One common thread ran through the addresses by Ambassador Lalit Mansingh
and his deputy Alok Prasad, Bruce Robertson from the State Department's
Foreign Service Institute, Congresswoman Connie Morella, and Michael Clark,
Executive Director of the US-India Business Council - the positive
contribution of the community in the flowering of Indo-American ties.
