Krishna Maharaj, the only person of Indian origin on death row in the
United States, escaped the noose for a second time last week, this time
forever.
But the 63-year-old former millionaire will not see the light of day for
another 50 years. If he does survive his sentence, he will be 113 years
old.
With Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Jerald Bagley sentencing the British national
to life in prison for a double murder, he will now move to a regular cell.
His lawyer Clive Stafford Smith, who helped more than 200 people escape the
death penalty, has vowed to take the case to higher courts. 'We'll tell the
