This year was undoubtedly a coming of age politically for the community

Whatever way you look at it, 2002 has undeniably been a banner year for the
Indian American community in its quest for greater political empowerment.

In this election year, the Indian American community's participation - from
registering to vote to volunteering in campaigns and running for elective
office - was at an all-time high and clearly showed that Indian Americans
had gone the way of several immigrant groups before it, establishing
themselves, providing for their families and their children's education
before getting ready to fight for its place at the political table.
