Just Tellin' It: The Indianapolis Recorder breaks racial barrier in local
TV debates

The racial glass ceiling in statewide televised political debates has
finally been broken. This week's gubernatorial debate between Republican
David McIntosh, incumbent Democratic Gov. Frank O'Bannon and Libertarian
Andrew Horning will, for the first time, include an African American among
the participants.

The Indianapolis Recorder's Carolene Mays has been chosen as one of the
panelists in the debate televised on WFYI (TV). She's the first African
American chosen to participate in a televised, statewide debate from
Indianapolis. And frankly, it's about time.
