Salt and Light: The Black man and the cross

out of the country and on him they laid the cross that he might bear it

Out of Northern Africa came a Black Jew named Simon. Simon was a Cyrenian
from what is now called Libya.
This Black man had come to Jerusalem for the Passover and because all of
the Holiday Inns were full with pilgrims, he stayed in a neighboring
