Understanding attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder

Your child's teacher calls you in for a conference. During the meeting, the
teacher explains your child is slipping academically, she asks you how he
behaves at home. At home your child is quiet, but easily distracted. He
seems to daydream often, but you've dismissed that as just your son's
behavior. The teacher believes your son has ADD.
You've heard of attention-deficit disorder but it means nothing to you. You
know your child is not hyperactive, so how can he have ADD.
Attention-deficit disorder does not mean your child is hyperactive. There
