As the general election looms in Ireland, MAIREAD CAREY examines Sinn
Fein's chances at the ballot box.
"TIOCFAIDH AR LA" used to be the Sinn Fein catch-cry, now it is close to
becoming a political reality.
The party -- which has just one TD (Member of Parliament) in the Dail
(Parliament) -- could get up to eight seats in Leinster House if there are
no major upsets before the people go to the polls in May.
Sinn Fein is fielding candidates in 21 constituencies and is currently
running at 8% in the opinion polls. That figure may be underestimated as
many people may feel uncomfortable declaring their intention to vote for a
