Comic, TV star, Dad. Denis Leary does it all. COLIN REGAN talks to the
Boston native about Ireland, stereotypes, and a tragedy which hit close to
home.
DENIS Leary is a self-confessed optimistic pessimist. This is a
characteristic he believes he shares with the majority of Irish Americans
he grew up with in and around Boston.
"We had a great sense of humor about our general day to day lives, but
there was also a prevailing sense of gloom. It's what we used to call being
optimistic pessimists: knowing the worst is going to happen and looking
forward to it."
