Celtic Tiger Losing its Roar: JOHN FAY is an American who has been living
in Dublin for several years, and he argues that the good economic times
there are slowly but surely decreasing.
THE Irish economy is suddenly not as buoyant as it has been for the past
five years. So far this month two factories on opposite ends of the country
have announced layoffs. In addition, the bad news out of the American
computer software and hardware industry will cause further pain in Ireland
and the overall economic picture is one of murkiness, if not gloom.
