History of Sorrento Cheese

In 1947, Louis Russo joined with two partners to form the Sorrento Cheese
Company in Blasdell, New York. Together, they made soft Italian cheese in
the proud family tradition that Louis had brought with him from his
birthplace of Sorrento, Italy.

In 1960, the business moved to its present location in Buffalo, New York
and continued to expand, including cheese making facilities in Goshen, New
York and San Jose, California, a distribution center in Little Ferry, New
Jersey and a sales office in Placentia, California.

In 1992, Sorrento, Inc. and its parent company, Societe, were sold to
Lactalis, S.A. of France, which made Sorrento part of one ...
