Pou Low-Income Tax Credit Becomes Law

Nearly 240,000 working families will receive an income tax credit thanks to
a new law sponsored by Assistant Minority Leader Nellie Pou and signed into
law today by the Governor.

The earned income tax credit will be phased in over four years and will
begin with a tax credit equal to 10 percent of the federal earned income
credit.

"Working families deserve to get cash back in their pockets," said Pou
(D-Paterson). "The best way to reward a hard working family in good
economic times is to give money back to invest in education, retirement or
just tending to the costs of living."
