Sharpton: Arafat Meeting `Consistent'; Cites advice from Peres in defending
surprise lunch with Palestinian leader.
The Rev. Al Sharpton insists he was being "consistent" by meeting with both
Israeli officials and Palestinian leader Yasir Arafat Monday, the day after
Arab gunmen killed five Israelis in the northern town of Hadera.
"It's important that we be consistent about giving the same message
everywhere," Reverend Sharpton said in a phone interview from Jerusalem
while en route to a tour of the Knesset. "We're telling both sides about
the need to stop the violence."
