The Loving Dozen, a local non-profit charitable organization, distributed
over 50,000 pounds of food to needy families on Dec. 14 at St. Leo's
Catholic Church Community Center.
The food items were provided as part of the Loving Dozen's `Holiday Food
Baskets' program, the largest distribution of food in Texas.
This program, conducted in conjunction with the San Antonio Food Bank and
cosponsored by H-E-B, annually identifies over 1,000 needy families to
receive a food basket during the holidays. Each basket contains enough food
for a two-week period and includes items such as cereal, canned vegetables,
pasta and snacks.
