On Thursday's weekly meeting, the San Antonio City Council officially
proclaimed the creation of Mayor Ed Garza's new "United San Antonio
Commission."

United San Antonio is to focus on promoting awareness and understanding of
the community by encouraging dialogue that transcends differences such as
faith, gender, ethnicity, economics and culture to create a more caring and
united San Antonio.

The commission was created in response to, "Some of the events that
happened after September 11, as far as some of the profiling going on here
and some of the vandalism against some of the Muslim Mosques in town," said
