Grandson Locked in Hot Car; Grandma Pleads No Contest
A Gardena grandmother charged with one felony count of child abuse for
leaving her 6-year-old grandson locked in a hot car this summer while she
went shopping, pleaded no contest last week, according to the court.
Torrance Superior Court Judge Andrew Kauffman sentenced Dorothy Brown
Hollins, 54, to three years probation, 60 days of community service and 52
weeks of parenting classes. Hollins was also ordered to stay away from her
grandson until further notice.
The grandmother was arrested Aug. 7 after the youngster begged for help
while locked in a car in the parking lot of a Target store at 2169 ...
