Memorial scholarship for Aaliyah
Detroit's Operation Get Down recently announced their plans to start a
memorial scholarship fund in the name of the late R&B singer Aaliyah.
The 22-year old singer died August 25, in a fatal plane crash in the
Bahamas. She was filming the video for her latest single, Rock the Boat,
from her self-entitled CD.
She was a graduate of the Detroit High School for the Fine and Performing
Arts.
The memorial scholarship fund will allow four students to attend Aaliyah's
former high school and will start giving out the scholarships in January of
