Amsterdam News special tops ratings
As part of its 90th anniversary celebration, The New York Amsterdam News,
the nation's oldest and largest continuously published Black-owned
newspaper was the focus of a one-hour special on NBC. The special, "The
Amsterdam News: Stories About Black New York," aired on Sunday, Aug. 27,
and came in strong in its time slot beating out ABC, CBS and Fox.
The special, which was hosted by "Today in New York" anchor Maurice DuBois,
took an in-depth look at the last nine decades of the paper's history and
pulled in nearly 250,000 viewers. While most other programs during the same
